ThreeDify announces performance and robustness breakthrough in BSPSolid
April 8, 2010 - Ottawa, Canada
ThreeDify is pleased to announce general availability of BspSolid 1.6.0 - a major upgrade, featuring improvements that significantly improve the speed and robustness of Incremental and CSG Boolean operations.
Over the past few months, ThreeDify has been focusing part of their R&D efforts on enhancing the speed and robustness of their BSPSolid library. These enhancements mean BSPSolid performs Boolean operations faster than most competing technologies and can simulate Boolean interactions reliably between modestly complex 3D solid meshes in near real time.
The path to getting the desired result has been fraught with challenges: "Due to limited precision of the floating point representation of real numbers, robustness issue has always been a difficult problem faced by any industrial strength geometric and solid modellers", explains Yaohong D. Jiang, ThreeDify CEO. “It was a major undertaking but we're proud of the result”.
