ActiveSolid Professional features an intuitive GUI, import/export plug-in architecture (with free Import/Export plug-ins downloadable from our Download page), unlimited undo/redo associative 3D dimensions, robust Boolean operations on 3D meshes and 2D polygons, 3D slicing, polygon offset, automatic house/roof/wall creation, local vertex/face editing, optimal solid reconstruction from parallel contours, extrude along vector or a polyline path, conversion of 3D meshes into voxel models, 2D mark-up tools, and an array of other powerful 3D object creation tools. Supported file formats include STL, DXF, Q3BSP, XGL and various 2D bitmap formats.

ActiveSolid Professional is a dual mode (both end user application and ActiveX control) 3D modeling, mark-up and visualization application. The entire application including its user interface can be embedded inside any ActiveX hosts such as Internet Explorer and Microsoft Office applications.

In control mode, ActiveSolid Professional differentiates itself from other 3D CAD controls currently available on the market by its built-in rich GUI and breadth of functionality. All the functionality and GUI elements in the application mode are equally accessible in the control mode. As a result, no user programming is required to make full use of ActiveSolid Professional in the control mode, while on the other hand, power users can still script ActiveSolid Professional using its built-in automation interfaces for Visual Basic.

Another unique feature of ActiveSolid Professional is its import/export plugin architecture using COM's Component Category technology that enables third party developers to independently develop their own ActiveSolid importers and exporters.

Last, but not the least, for users and developers who are often annoyed by large size ActiveX controls, ActiveSolid Professional is written in ATL/WTL and is very compact in size, and unlikely MFC or Java based plugins, is extremely fast to load. All functionality is packed inside ActiveSoid.dll under 2.5MB (excluding OpenGL.dll for rendering and FreeImage.dll for 2D image import/export).
